The Cooperative of Banana Workers of the South, COOPETRABASUR, is a voluntary association of people and not of capitals. Its members are organized in a democratic way in order to satisfy their necessities, promote their economic and social improvement as an overcoming mean. Its objective is the labor and the production, not the profit.

The cooperative is ruled by principles and universal norms as the free adhesion, voluntary retirement, right of voice, and a vote per associate, promotion of the cooperative integration, education and social welfare; as well as improvement of the life conditions of the associates and their families.

 In COOPETRABASUR the person is the subject, the object and the aim of the organization. As an association of people, the cooperative is ruled by the principle of equality, which has as base, a particular consideration of the individual as so.

Of this last characteristic it can be stressed out that all the associates have the right to participate actively in the direction and control of COOPETRABASUR through the General Assembly, the Council of Administration, the Committee of Monitoring and the Committee of Education and Social welfare.
